Take it all in
Inimitable hope inflates within me,
my heart a balloon
expanding maniacally
to fill each of my fingers and
each of my toes
until I float away.
I purse my lips and
glue them shut
for fear that the infectious light
inside
will leak out from the gaps
in my madman’s smile.
How could I not know
the way that dreaming fills you up?
The woozy-wild wonder
that burns my throat
and slips out
at the corners of my eyes.
I could consume everything
in this world
with this hope inside me,
cracking like a crazy fire.
I am made of starving mouths
and flame,
of longing
and eternity.
Wild wind and thunder
roar
ruffling my paper lungs.
Good thing I don’t breathe anymore.
I absorb.
