When I see you, my eyes light up.

My feelings are no longer locked in a cup.

I get butterflies in my stomach from all that you do,

My only wish is that you feel the same way too.

When I hear your name, I can't help but smile,

And hope that we'd one day be together for a while.

I get thoughts in my head from hearing your voice,

That make me zone out all the other noise.

I daydream about you all the time,

Enough to make this poem rhyme.

The sweet words you say makes my heart melt,

Bad enough to make all my feelings felt.

Without even realizing it, I fell in love,

With the one boy that makes me sing like a dove.

My heart starts racing at the thought of your name,

Oh please tell me you feel the same.

You know how to make me laugh with just a simple task,

Which always makes me take off my serious mask.

When I'm around you, I get a little shy,

But that's because when I say this I cannot lie.

When you're not around I miss you dearly,

Making my strong feelings show more clearly.

Bad things happened which made us part,

But every word I said came straight from my heart.

I miss the way we used to be,

The times when you felt this way towards me.

Although you don't feel the same anymore,

I hope the thought of me still makes you sore.

I was told that when you're falling down it's best to fly,

That being said, I guess this is goodbye.

The author's comments:

I wrote this over the course of two weeks, which makes it go over the course of a breakup.

The tone shifts from happy to not so happy because it was written while he broke up with me for my bestfriend. I didn't have the courage to tell him how I felt so instead I wrote my feelings down and it's been two years and I'm finally trying to tell my story. I really hope you enjoy reading this.
