Wings of her mind
She is the girl whose wings are cut off
but the want for freedom still in her heart
She is the girl who always questions
but can’t find any answers
She is the girl who lives in a world solitude
not of music
And every day, she closes her eyes and imagines what she would do if she could be free
She imagines feeling the wind beneath her wings, taking her up to new heights
She lets go of her melodious voice encasing the world like honey
She envisions feeling the music in her veins, her hands and feet following the rhythm
She now knows the secrets of the universe
But every day, she opens her eyes,
the visions fade as if they were never there
Hot tears sting her face, bringing her back to reality
What was she thinking
She is not allowed to sing
She is not allowed to dance
She is not allowed to think
She is not allowed to dream
And above all, she is not allowed to fly
