Dear Anger,

You boil up inside

You build up pressure

You wait to explode

What results of your schemes is lava that scorches all it touches,

Leaving nothing but ash behind

Dear Anger,

You thrash and writhe around in my mind

You punch me aggressively in the stomach

You come over me like a spell

When you strike, you control my tongue

When you strike, you control my mind

When you strike, you control my heart

But Dear Anger,

I’m sorry, I’m not sorry

No longer will I surrender

Your hostile words that hurt like knives

Will no longer utilize my guilty tongue

You will no longer dictate over my thoughts

Your rude remarks on what she is wearing are no longer necessary

You are no longer needed in the control station

Your job was done long ago

So pack your bags and travel far,

You’re being replaced by kindness.

This peice is an epistolary poem written to anger. It expresses the power that anger has, but then tells of overcoming that anger and replacing it with kindness.
