Amanita
When the earth is cold and damp
So damp that fog seeps through the deep layers of
redwood needles
The greatest gift of all is given---
rebirth.
The twigs and branches of spring’s wild winds
Preserved too long by summer’s lazy heat
Are all decayed and melted with the gloomy storms of winter.
What compels the god of rebirth to grow
In such an amazing array of sizes and textures
His army of dedicated warriors
Come and leave quickly
Rebirth blooms though lighting may crack and rain may pour.
