She Had a Light in Her Eyes
I don’t remember the last time I saw a light in someone’s eyes.
Where did the light go?
Yet her eyes were on fire.
Burning enough to make up for the rest of us,
Somber, only lit by the artificial lights we can’t seem to escape.
But her light was real,
Powerful
Dancing among the desolate in tightly packed rooms
An undying candle flickering like a beacon to those around her, stuck
In the grip of a shared addiction.
A dangerous dependency.
You don’t see light like this anymore.
Passionate and real.
She could change the world with that glow.
You could see it in her eyes.
