enraptured oasis
empty pockets
fill the gaping valleys
drizzling dollar signs in your eyes
lips stained by rhubarb pie licked dry
sage sings songs to you in the breeze
denim skies drip dandelions like tears
wrap me in an old shirt ship me away
salvage me among the wreckage
who are you?
things have gone blurry so
blurred by the clamor of expensive rings but
things have been quieter these days.
set sail on the seas, please
visit my seashore
slip a hello in between the shadows
for my ears have been leaking lately
I dare you to look at me and say you’re doing fine
without crossing your fingers
crowded skies make way for king-sized lies
allow me to show you how i
contort myself, make magic in the daylight
twist my bones and wish for home, i’m stranded
on eggshells
cradled by clouds
echoing the sound of the tumbling surf
inching my way back to myself
lone ranger acting alone and feeling lonely.
mirror mirror on the wall,
humpty dumpty had a great fall.
This poem is an ekphrasis based on Shéhérazade by Magritte. I studied Magritte´s surrealist painting and translated it into poetry, trying to include the major focal points.
