Where I'm From
I am from the cracked streets.
from gunshots and police sirens
I am from scary towns
of Philadelphia and hearing people crying
It felt lonely and Everyone said I looked like a Stoney
I am from the dead grass
To the pretty trees of Delaware.
I’m from the Thanksgiving dinners and basketball dribble
From mom and dad and sister
I’m from the arguing
and fighting
To the now happy times.
From don’t stay out to late
and pick the right friends
I’m from never believing in god
To becoming a firm believer
I’m from Delaware, Philly, Jersey, and Maine,
Fried chicken and mac and cheese
From the Sickness, illness, and sadness
the death of a loved one.
I am from the ghetto streets of Philly
To the beautiful town of Magnolia
Ever so glad to get out.
