Season
Snowflakes fall and I can’t see a thing
On my walk to school. Here is Winter.
Along the roads, salt traps the ice
Over and over again, snow plows reenter.
Beyond the cold weather, a warm cabin lies.
Inside is nothing fun except the sound of a printer.
Fresh, crisp air as snow turns to rain
Bright daffodils and bumble bees sting
The smell of morning dew with a cup of coffee
Watching the birds fly and the baby deer frolicking
The butterflies take flight since hibernation is over
Riding bikes in the park despite the wet Spring.
Schools are closed, at least you’d hope so,
Because around the corner is Summer.
Staying up late watching movies till 1
And hangin’ with the guitarists and drummer
But for one little boy who looks out from a desk.
Seeing the sunshine, then complains, “What a bummer!”
But he won’t be alone for long since Summer is gone
And the schools welcome the new Autumn weather.
Football starts and teachers welcome
Red and yellow leaves fall, slow as a feather
Scary costume parties, delicious apple pie
Then the first snowflake falls, more will soon gather.
