Was I His

I sat in silence,

My clothes laid across the floor,

Each one bringing back a memory of before

Before everything fell,

The clothes he took off me with his cold dead hands,

He took them off as if they were his,

As if I was his,

But I wasn’t his and he wasn’t mine,

He was the empty shadow of what was,

His eyes were black,

Darkness filled my body as his eyes met mine,

All the light fading away,

The hands I used to hold gliding across my skin

No, not gliding, ripping.

He stops.

Time freezes.

I am not his but I am trapped

With the empty shadow of love

With the monster I created.

He is not mine and I am not his,

I never was.
