Because of him
Near a river
Upon a hill
Numb and unfeeling
On the cold earth I lay still
Unbothered by the rain
for when I thought puddle formed
But when I touched my face
Down wet tears stormed
What he did
With no remorse
Like I meant nothing
How swiftly he changed course
Against my will
Despite my fighting
In attempt to let go
Over time I'll keep smiling
Because of him
I now know
Without love you cannot grow
Above the surface was perfectly great
Until I saw him start to break

This is a fiction piece that just came to me one day and I decided to write a story for it. I hope you enojy it or are able to relate to it.
