Fortuna
Sing in me, Muse, and through tell me the story
Of a boy venturing into the woods to earn a weeks pay,
His ignorance and laziness washed away, converted into pride and respect for his father,
Every hour grew longer, and his body aches with a yearning to rest,
But he must go on, the son of Rene Rios was not to give up and sit,
His co-workers, a gang of cousins, heaved away boulders to take up the hill,
Each truckload gave them a sense of accomplishment, one that can’t be found anywhere else,
A sweet sound of rap and reggae was their distraction from how sore they were,
In sync they sing away, and away for hours upon hours,
Suddenly a buzz from the employer himself says in a loud thrilling voice,
Dinnertime!
Tell me muse of how fast they ran for the nourishment of a full stomach and untouched energy,
Tia’s cooking was a treat, the best of the best, more than enough to fill you up
But the best feeling is when you’re around family, and everyone is a brother,
Though the work was hard, it was worth it for the laughs and good vibes,
He wished he could stay there forever
