Your bright pink plastic

Screams at me,

And the only thing louder

Is the clicking that you begin to make

At the crack of dawn.

It is your clicking that brings

Me to a reality that smells

Of vegan breakfast sausage

That is frying downstairs.

It is you, and only you that

Motivates me to escape dreamland

And taste orange juice once again.

You hold memories of fourth grade physics

Class, a time of joy, and projects

That now sit in the landfill.

You look as if you are going to go on vacation,

With your sunhat, beach shorts, and flip-flops,

And the only thing that keeps you grounded

Is your lost wing, which now sits beside you,

Detached, dues to my clumsiness.

I apologize for that.

I know you may feel unappreciated,

But I promise you that deep down inside,

There is a flamingo solar dancer shaped space

In my heart

That no one else could ever fill.

Brainstorming this piece was a struggle, but finally, I got the miraculous idea to write about one of my solar dancers. I have a vast collection, but my flamingo solar dancer was one of my first, and definitely has the most story behind it.
