My Body is a Temple
Cough drops, pills, syrups and bandages
Compresses, home remedies, more pills still
Limited, gorgeously trapped in the vessel
That I think is myself
Like narcissism
Is an inextricable part of my marrow
And locked like DNA
Sore throat? Here’s how to ignore it:
Focus on your stubbed toe.
Don’t have one? Oh.
Try a little harder
These things take time
Mixed medications, self-medication,
Four hours in the sack
Nine more misplaced priorities on top of
A deadline that can’t be spent
And a healthy dose
Of well-intentioned malpractice
My body is a temple
And Blaspheme becomes me
