Angel in the Sand
At one o'clock our day started
Rather than the earlier time of
10, but plans change all the time anyway.
I meant it when I said
"You look beautiful", and in that moment
There was nothing more true.
But there would be a time later on
Where it would be even more so.
Eclipsing the shore in 40 minutes
In search of a hidden spot
To find the perfect shells
Would have felt perfect if I
Had the guts to grab your hand.
But how could I even bring myself
To mar the image of
An angel in the sand?
Your figure was a beacon
Drawing me along, suggesting quietly
That I follow and see
What lays in store.
One day I'll take you back
To share a kiss on the rocks
And a happier moment.
Sneaking sidelong glances
From the corner of my eye
To see if you were still there,
My hand itched the entire time
(To entwine my fingers in yours
And try on a little happiness for once,
See if it fit and how it felt)
Hoping you are ok with what you see.
Next time I'll be braver,
But until I actually do
I hope you can be patient with me.

This was an experience I had taking a girl to the beach in the middle of January to look for shells as a date.
