Looking Ahead
Martin Luther King Jr.
a name known by many for standing up courageously
in a time where most didn’t have any.
Emotion, recognition, power, or wealth,
all those things were missing to the general commonwealth.
What would you do in a time of need?
Would you be joyous or taken over by the perspective of greed?
Others have tried but did not succeed
in showing the world unity, non-violence, and equality.
When brought to a dead end,
where there is nowhere to go,
would you lend your time to others in order to bend the rules?
Our nation needs reform.
We must centralize the present,
not ponder on ideas of the past.
We must build a better future so our generation is not the last.
What is a step we beings should take,
to stop rebellious people from putting
our society
in the grave?
Others and I will protest, and make the danger well known,
even if opposers find the oppositions to be a show.
When groups acknowledge peril wherever they go,
power and recognition will glow through the thunderous objection of
non-violence
between communities, countries, and capitals bestowed.
When the goal of non-violence is achieved
the people of the world will alter their points of view
and focus on the light
at the end of the road.
I enjoyed writing this piece, I especially loved the rhyming from line to line.
