The Leopard
Eyes which radiate like the beams of a flashlight
Muscles tremble underneath a velveteen lining which matches
The jet blackness of a weighted skin
The creature brushes against the stoutness of an earthen jug of water
Which creates a skylight viewing station with its network of wood
The creature's tissues harden yet remain as supple as peach slices
As its eyes continue to rotate northwest to south
Lolling in their sockets from southeast to west
Glazed by a light film of pink membrance

I decided to write this poem after watching an episode from an animated series called Leo the Lion. This particular episode featured a woman, an American nurse, who was searching for a leopard that had been hand-raised by humans.
