London Streets
The misty, slurry, foggy streets of London gradually come into view
Tattered tailors flock the rust lined corner of the nearest avenue
Haughty looks are cast their way by stuffed partridges
In varied and gay colors such as orange, tangerine, and red
Lonely, sprawling flowers and tiny hayseeds lay scattered among the grid lock
Of jostling men and women, intent upon memorizing the placement of their feet
Upon the grisly, wet, slick pavement lined with abyssi of ill fortune to he who breaks
The unstated rule with a careless leather clog or sandel shoe
A single head is distinguishable in the misma of humans
Squawking to attract buyers to their wares, overflowing or stagnant
In sundry laps, accordign to the custom of their delivery,
The boisterous latter more successfull than the timid former
Hair as black as shoe shine polish, eyes as merry as the river Thames
Lips as smiling as those of a coronated monarch though she only
Wears a rumpled black petticoat and olive green jacket while she gaily sings
Among the pillars of a deserted collesium composing rock, rubble, and ungainly sparks of
blue and red flame from the somber, untouchable gas lamps

I was inspired to write this poem after listening to a song from a popular musical which takes place in London during the early 1900s. I hope that you enjoy it!
