The Difference
What difference can one person make?
When compared to the cosmos-
Incomprehensibly infinite-
We are all specks of dust
And one word, one action
Doesn’t seem to matter at all.
What difference can one person make?
We’re forever tied down
By our own expectations
And making a difference in our own lives,
Breaking habits, making dreams,
Doesn’t seem to be possible at all.
But the difference between
What we ask ourselves
And what we should be asking
Is all the difference in the world.
Anyone can change a heart with a word,
A mood with a smile,
A life with a friendship.
Maybe the question shouldn’t be
What difference can one person make,
But rather,
What difference can I make,
Right now,
In someone else’s world?
What difference can one person make?
They can change a life
One word at a time
And I hope
I made a difference
To you.
