Compliments
Compliments
Isn’t it funny, to be called a word
And suddenly, you receive butterflies
In your stomach, it’s pretty absurd
But after a while, that feeling will die
To be labeled
And limited to only that
Although you know damn well, you are capable
To much more, in fact
Who needs the opinions of others
On how you stand and dress
Or how you twirl your hair
And your features and the rest
Because I certainly do not care!
Anymore
I used to give into the compliments
Make others adore me more
I stopped, now there’s some common sense
To be rewarded by being called pretty
Want to make more adjustments to your face?
Not too much, now don’t be greedy
We’ll all do this because it’s the the compliments we chase
Knowing this, having a new point of view
I see audience’s compliments slowly becoming hostile
Which is why I no longer give them value
By ignoring them, we are no longer fragile
