Compulsion
The sweet smell wafting through the air
Drifting in from the kitchen,
A warm gooey batch of cookies
Laying golden brown on the table,
A strong growl from my stomach
The savory-sweet cookie
Mixing with the deep richness of chocolate,
Leaving me with that desire for just one more
Convincing myself it’s only one more,
I start savoring them less and less
Finding myself eating in a hurry
Quicker than imaginable they’re all gone
After the delight of indulging
A sluggishness in my muscles
Nausea filling up my stomach,
Regret the only thought in my mind
Wishing that I had more restraint
When such an opportunity arises again
