"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better" - Maya Angelou

Life to some is very black and white,

No colorful days or happy moments,

No color other than black and white

Most who see this way feel as if they’re standing

All alone, with no one or nothing to give them color

Some look at life as something sad or lonely

In the dark with just their shadow

Like they’re at a standstill with either themselves,

Or with the difficulties of life

Alone is how people like him feel

He wants to be seen, not hidden

Alone, a shadowy, scary word left for him,

The boy who stood facing his shadow.

This poem was originally written for a school assignment, but my teacher and I both agreed that others should be able to read this. I wrote it from my own experience of feeling alone.
