The child, deep inside
Somewhere, deep inside
He is wailing in agony
His eyes have gone beyond red
His tears are dancing in the air
His screams are deafening ears
He is crying,
Out of fear, out of loss
He is crying,
Like neverbefore
He is crying,
The little child still inside of me.
As I gaze upon my eternal companion
Whose life is slowly ticking out.
As I gaze upon with dry eyes
Not a sound comes out of my reluctant throat.
A hundred thoughts race across my mind
Not a single one comes outside.
Meanwhile, somewhere deep, deep inside,
The little child is crying,
Out of fear of loss of a dear old friend
Yet not a single tear comes outside.

I lost a good friend of mine a while back. When we met in our childhood, we had planned to be together as best buds for the rest of our lives. We went through thick and thin together, he was with me at my lowest moments and left me alone at my highest. My inability to cry or say anything really meaningful to him in his last moments motivated me to write this poem.
