Beetle
Red, round, gleaming,
fresh off the shop floor.
Placed into my palms is a VW Beetle,
identical to the one she previously owned.
“First cars are special, I’m so proud of you! Now you can come whenever you please.”
Pulled into embrace, my face flush.
Her hug adds to my warmth,
and I smile.
Looking down I see my reflection
and her face grinning back at me.
So grateful for this treasure-
something to remember her forever.
