“Picture a wave. In the ocean. You can see it, measure it, its height, the way the sunlight refracts when it passes through. And it's there. And you can see it, you know what it is. It's a wave.<br /> <br /> And then it crashes in the shore and it's gone. But the water is still there. The wave was just a different way for the water to be, for a little while. You know it's one conception of death for Buddhists: the wave returns to the ocean, where it came from and where it's supposed to be."<br /> -The Good Place

and i, only i, shall unconquer

my silent voice.

and share thoughts, musically.

secrets, whimsical, you, me.

try

daringly.

talk

openly.

my lovely hand can see

yourself and me

dancing

dreamless night.

in tomorrow parading nigh.

i, foreverly spended,

i, blooms marigolds

you, crumbling

crumbling, you

forgets among i

The author's comments:

I wrote this piece in a creative writing class through constrained writing. The goal was to create a poem using words that follow the digits of pi. I enjoyed trying to create meaning in this poem while also limiting myself, as it allowed me to think even more about my word choice. This is the most free-form poem that I have written.
