The Plight of Green
The enemy of Green hides within a decaying forest,
the ash on the trees staining your hands black,
a flinch sending shivers as frigid as your fear down your spine
Green lives safe and sound inside colossal walls,
walking on ivory streets,
peering with opaque honey eyes at the ones who march those same streets,
the ones who venture outside the walls,
giving their hearts for Green
The enemy of Green hides in a place where the wind does not blow,
in a scorched, empty land,
where the only sound is one’s poor heart fighting to stay thumping,
then plummeting when they hear two sets of footsteps instead of one
Green lives just outside of the walls,
dashing through the ivory sand,
splashing in the translucent water,
his giggles just as refreshing as it
As Green ventures further outside the walls,
towards the enemy of Green,
he only seems to be getting younger, lusher
As Green ventures where he can see the enemy of Green,
he seems to get cooler, then colder,
he starts to get crisp at the edges
Will he withstand the enemy of Green?
Or will he become the enemy of the next Green,
lurking in the decaying forest,
in a place the wind does not blow?
