Mom and Dad
Coaxed out of the closest, how do you feel?
Like changing your mind after you already jumped
Exposed and shaking, listening to the whispers being screamed across a broken home
Gathering at the wake for someone made up
Walking like a ghost, talking like a child
Knuckles turning white, begging on bloodied knees
“I don't even know you anymore,”
They say while eulogizing the picture perfect postcard
While I get slowly killed by values too deep to uproot
So I sit in the hurt, too tired to fight
Watching you close your eyes in disappointment
Wishing you would come wipe my tears and hold my hand
