The pen
A pen
Like a pencil but incapable of erasing its mistakes
It embodies the dark bold ink with confidence
Its confidence soars like a kite in gale winds
The pen is a tool for others
They write little notes for kids to pass
Short stories for english class
Concerning documents from diplomats
Different pieces like a shattered glass
Everything it writes is permanent,
Even mistakes will remain forever
For this reason it ignores its mistakes
Like tripping over a rock, it stumbles forward and keeps on going
The poor pen has a limit to what it can write
The ink inside it is limited
A lifetime of writing starts young and bold before it becomes frail and old.
Some may refill the ink though it is still consumed
Regardless, the pen writes
It knows it purpose and fulfills it
It finds writing to be like meditating
This piece was inspired by the many pens I have used up or lost in the last two years despite mainly using my computer for work. I wanted to recognize their importance even though they were just tools.
