Dancing and Dancing
I see light and a glimmering sea shore,
The dollar store with its brown baseball caps,
The neighbor of my dreams, knocking on my door
Until the door opens
And the gush of cold wind hits me in the face,
And there I lie, alone,
Staring into the air, the white ceiling that should've been the stars,
And the signals in my brain dancing,
As if teasing me and my heart,
It keeps dancing and dancing
Until it loses the battle against my falling eyelids,
Then I dance with my loved ones under the force of a drink,
My dog welcomes me to my beloved home,
Where the sea meets the mountains
And the sun meets the grass,
And there I stand,
All of the discordant tunes of the world in harmony,
Wrapping around my head.

I thought of this poem from a night where I simply could not fall asleep. The next day, I sat down, opened my laptop, and began to describe the scene of waking up and falling asleep by capturing the fragile line between dreaming and reality.
