writing isn't always rainbows
hand cramping
girl
sits at desk
frowns, scribbles
starts again
shifts position
erases, rewrites,
smiles as she finds just the right phrase
wind from the open window
plays with her chestnut hair
lifting and tossing it
around
her face
irritated, she pushes it away
grinds pencil lead into blue lined paper
in
the hopes
that she will force out a masterpiece
maybe someday
when her sprawling, disheveled thoughts
roll out of bed
and
get dressed
