The Lone Wolf
I learned the hard way
Not to trust too deeply
To love too fondly
To hug too closely
Open up just enough, but never that they see your cracks under the surface
Let them see the first layer of the onion but never the rest
Keep everything down so deep
No one, can ever
See your pain
Feel your anger
Or Look through your lies
They say the eyes are windows to the soul
But are they?
When I look into my eyes all I see is darkness
A soul so tattered, so broken
Unable to shed a tear
Unable to see the light
Unable to open that closed door
I try to fly
Fly free like a bird
Drifting through the wind
With no worries or cares
But when your that free,
Who can you be close to?
Leaving a place so frequently,
Migrating over seas, mountains and grassy fields
With no home to return to
Always on the run with no end in sight
I learned the hard way
Insecurities push me
farther
And
Farther away
Locking the door behind me
Disappearing into a dark room
All alone.
