"Her World"
Soft echoes of wind paints the perfect picture in my head…
Lillies and poppies that bordered along the trees, circled it's serendipity
Chirps from birds filled the air, singing a soft lullaby
Perfectly shaped clouds align, uniformed along the sky
Pretty pictures of vases with muted down flowers stood still
Watching vintage orange reflect itself onto the mirror
Hay colored hills
An old red farmhouse
A hidden eye from behind
Staring from the frame
Why are the indigo-colored leaves swarming past my mind?
Like bees that don’t have a hive
Is the sun pale yellow?
Pasted to the skin
Bones too shallow?
Mellow from within
Crooked legs bent
Palms glued to the ground
Exhausted from silence
Crawling towards it
They sit back and watch
Watch as they see...
The red farmhouse from a distance
Are they coming to meet...
The girl in the frame
Her portrait captured for life...
In a still moment in time

"Her World" is a poem I wrote inspired by Andrew Wyeth's painting "Christina's World". There's a certain level of uncanniness that reaches the audience when the painting is viewed for the first time. As I was writing the poem, I wanted to incorporate elements from the painting into my poem. Any feedback regarding my poem "Her World" is greatly appreciated!
