Lost In Thought
There once was a demon, who saw beyond every lie, thus gazed upon society’s truth; behind the shadows of pretendin’. He understood that part of human nature – grasped the very concept of deceit n’ looked at redemption right in the eye, while drinkin’ the nectar of immortality – a curse. Watchin’ as souls around him got older, the world changin’ but he… remained. At some point, he stopped thirstin’ for companionship n’ gave up on talkin’. He just watched there, still… until his hooves grew roots, his horns grew branches, his skin hardened n’ eventually after what once called “humanity” met its eclipse, he became a tree; the last tree that stood upon Earth’s dirt.
“For I see a sea” he thought,
“For I see life” he shouted,
“For I see myself” he felt…
“I can no longer distinguish my dreams from what stands before me. All this mornings, noons n’ nights have passed the point of teachin’ me about life- they have altered my understandin’… All I can confess to the open blue of salt is that I’m lonely. I am lonely”
