Dissipation
This feels like separation at sea
Or walking the plank
Staring at a photo
Eyes downcast and stinging
You run alone when you’re little
And yearn to be held when you’re tall
Reliving memories of the past
The warmth of his hands
The kindness in his laugh
A picturesque scene of past comfort
Are these memories real?
Your head on his shoulder
He’s dancing around the room
You cup your face in your hands
And block out the world
Hanging on to the feeling of safety
As you continue to drift away

This was an image poem I created for school, but I didn't exactly follow the image exactly. I just wanted an excuse to write about the feeling of a relationship between Parent and Child fading away.
