Haunted endings
It was never the ending that haunted us,
But it’s the space where they truly lie.
The things that slowly drifted apart and faded,
Without one final parting of goodbye.
Like a room without windows,
The secrets hidden from our blind eyes we never knew.
A question without an answer
And a song stopped halfway through.
When our minds attempt to piece each one,
Their hollow shapes never seem to fit.
And forever in the deep corners of our mind,
Those moments never seem to sit.
Like a repeated order by step,
You can’t be sure that’s ever the order’s last.
Like the soul that was never put at rest,
You never know what it’s hiding from the past.
Not knowing is what truly haunts us,
the memories that never mend.
For they are the missing pieces of life’s puzzle,
That never seemed to end.
