Different
They’re in the school band, huffing and puffing
and making their instruments sing together,
Practicing Bach and Mozart and Beethoven after
laughing as they try to play Taylor Swift songs on their
classical instruments

at 5am with the dawn light,
so that I can finish my to-do list before 11pm today
I can barely see my hands, which are flying,
dancing, plucking at the strings
of my culture, my people,
my soul
