Geodes of our lives
To me you are a geode
On the outside there is a rock layer
Similar to your layer of silence,
The outside layer makes a geode seem like any other rock;
Like how you seem like any other person
But, with practice, someone can see the difference between a rock and a geode
Much like how the practiced eye sees the beauty of a “quiet” kid
But then again,
Sometimes it just happens by chance
Deciding to hold onto a “rock” after a glance
Or trying to become friends
And, finally, after many hits with a hammer,
Or perhaps many days spent together,
That rock layer, or layer of silence, starts to crack
Slowly, the crack gets bigger and bigger
Until the rock layer of silence is opened
And inside
You see
The sparkling crystals of a beautiful personality

Dedicated to Ania C. Thanks for being the geode in my life.
I hope Teenink users reading this enjoyed this poem. To all the geodes reading this, thanks and keep on going. One day someone will find out there’s more to a “rock” than what they think. 🙂
