When simplicity favored the suits

Of hot Florida rays

Not as hot as we have made them

Towering castles

And terrifying thrills

And not yet being tall

I am taller now

And the days grow hotter

In Florida

The mice, capitalistic villains

And I hear foreign tongues

Everyone comes to Florida

Solitude in a room

With 4, maybe 5

Princesses dancing,

Illuminating the dark room

The ice cream did not sit well

In my stomach

And I cried that night

In Mickey’s World of debt

This poem is about my melancholy vacation experience at Disney World. Being there was a surreal experience because it was less whimsical and magical from what I remembered.
