Speechless
Tears pool in my eyes, begging to be released
You stand in front of me
lecturing me on my mistakes
I’m speechless
All the things I want to say are racing through my mind
But all I can do is choke back a sob
You tell me that you love and are protect me
But if you loved me, you would love all of me
Not just the beauty but the ugly too.
Why do you get to choose what part of me is loved?
I give you all of my appreciation
Yet, you hurt me
I’m told to forgive
But why?
You have crumpled my heart and self-respect into pieces
So I’m speechless
Love is supposed to heal
Not damage
