The Day Of
No
No time
No Time left
I feel a sickening feeling
A gut wrenching
My stomach sinks
My palms sweat
Tears well up
Yet there is a calm feeling
A feeling of knowing
A feeling of security
A feeling of confidence
The hours count down
Time whirls by as I watch the clock
The minute is here
Time to go they yell
We proceed up
The light is bright and warm, the decibel meter flashes in my peripheral
A loud beaming voice yells “kick”
Like a deer in headlights I stare off
It clicks
Sound check
Sound check
Sound check
That word rings through my head
Everything is silent
Everything is still
Everything is soft
Everything led up to this moment of sound
Yet the silence
The silence is the loudest sound of all
