Honey
Waking up to a computer screen every day
Hidden from the peers I once knew
Pretending to be learning
Yet playing video games
Yet sleeping the day away
Assignments were like digital mountains
The amount had kept me from working
I didn’t care
When I was finally back inside a building
With an uncomfortable mask on my face
I had secluded myself
As if nothing had changed
I had been alone for four years
I liked being alone
I don’t like depending on others
Then one math class
You had asked me for a song’s name
A song that sounded like honey
Next thing I know
We’re hanging out every day
And I didn’t mind
Because for the first time ever
I wanted someone else’s company
More than my own
