Chilly Winter Night

May 20, 2024

I sit at a bus stop and look up at the street light on the other side of the road.

The nighttime air seems to have brought a sudden chill.

My hands are tucked inside my winter jacket.

My breath is clearly shown each time I breathe out.

The light flurries are especially bright under the street light.

I look over to the clock at the stop and the next bus will arrive in 12 minutes at 10:45 P.M.

While waiting a man shows up and sits down next to me.

He is wearing a tanned trench coat and carrying a briefcase.

His red nose and cheeks shows that he has been out a while.

In the emptiness surrounding us I see a bus start to show up and stop right before us.
