Before I Knew Who I Was
Back then
I would roll my eyes and say
"I can't wait for my new adventure,
My new home,
My new me.
I won't miss them
Or the stories they share of
My embarrassing moments and
Childhood dreams.
About me before I knew who I was."
But how sweet are the memories we share-
How sweet are the times from when we were young
And how much sweeter is your love
After seeing me
And knowing me
For so many years.
You saw me then,
Before I knew who I was.
You see me now,
Still figuring it out.
This me has touched you,
And grown up with you,
And loved you.
Now I'm not so sure that I am ready for
My new adventure,
My new home,
My new me.
Because you are a part of this me.
