Ready or Not
I thought I had waited
long enough
For this
or what I thought it was
So many years of watching
what I thought
I saw
What I thought
I wanted
Love.
They call it love
this game
of hide-and-seek
of cat-and-mouse
of lonely nights
and suttle fights
Of loss and like and war.
And so I fell
-so hard I bruised-
into this pit of drama
of who-likes-who
and
doesn't
this stupid shadow of
a slight reflection
of affection
But in the end
I did not win
instead I broke
twice and again
For in this game
we all will lose
or at least will
bleed and bruise
Some think they have it
but do they?
Do they?
Do they really ever know?
No.
I think not.
As I rot
in this round of pain
and acid rain.
Cat's game.
