I Lost You
I can no longer remember
How to breath
I feel my heart
Stuttering to a stop
Not even bothering to shatter
Just failing me all together
Because a shattered heart
Can be repaired
But a heart refusing to beat
Can never be replaced
You have made your choice
And with it
Your feelings made clear
I thought what I felt was mutual
But I now know I was wrong
I let myself think
That this was it
That it wasn't like the others
That it would see no end
One of the most painful
And most dreadful things in existence
Is loving someone
Who only used to love you
I should hate you
But that has never been possible
I should feel something--anything
But I don't
Without a heart to guide it
My body goes numb
My blood flow slows
I can't seem to find my breath
I feel myself slip away
Being replaced
With who I will soon become
A person in whom love
Is a lost concept
A person who wants desperately
To feel something
But is no longer capable
I lost you
And soon after
Lost myself as well
