Some Days
Some days you never cross my mind
Other times you are everywhere
You’re the boy across the street
The face in the mirror
The song on the radio
The boy driving his truck
Two lanes away
I wish you would stop haunting my dreams
Stop making me remember the promises
You never kept
The “forever and always” that became “never’’
I want to move on
I want to be able to believe his words
And not compare him to you
I want your woodsy smell,
Your serious gray eyes,
your contagious grin,
your coffee flavored kisses,
The feel of your hands caressing mine
To fade from memory
I want to be able to trust him
To not break my heart
I want to believe that his silky smooth words
Are the truth
I want to be able to fall in love again
And trust myself enough
To let him have the key to my heart
That you lost
Some days you never cross my mind
Other times you are everywhere
