A Part of Me
So close and yet so far—
I could reach but miss;
Like putting men on Mars
The other side of me is what I try not to show,
Because this side believes the love can still grow.
I shut him out and pay no attention,
Then I lock him up, so he cannot speak.
Cruel it is because he is a part of me,
But that same part is naïve.
Holding on to old feelings and memories,
Hoping that she’ll remember me
With the same love and energy.
Her pain, somewhat different from mine,
Is all the same in due time
Picked on for race or weight, it’s all the same
It brings both happiness and grief
When I hear her name
