All aboard a Jersey train humming quick
To the minefield of colors, races, smells -
Culture.

Wandering through a storm of people,
Safe and secure amongst family and
The sounds.

The sounds of subways sliding constantly
Rumbling, rumble, rumble, beneath the crisp
Confronting wind blowing the waves of
Newspaper men calling, pigeons cooing,
Men trotting along on business calls
And old butchers yelling in China town.
A city is dead without sound.

Wandering among the crowds are the smells
Of fresh pickles, donuts, grease, fish, hot dogs,
Colliding with the chatter of salesman,
Friends,
Strangers,
Brushing off one another and leaving behind
Silent footpritns upon the souls and lives
Of all those buzzing in the hubbub of
New York City.
