Born to Breathe
Walk out that door believing it's my fault
and I'll know you were the reason I'm so wrong
You left and walked out of my life years ago
I'm not your daughter anymore you spoke strong
The words you've spoke, the names you screamed,
Your words are the metal, your hate is the heat
You've branded and burned me for too many years
Scarring the tissue I felt you mistreat
"Blessed" into life, I was born to breathe
You prevent my breathing as I replay you in my mind
Over and over, you repeat the words and your denial
"Cursed" into life, you live to remind
I wish I could rewind back ten years or more
Back to when I was your little girl
I think you loved me then, or so it felt
Because I loved you then, more than the world
Kicked onto a curb, too many years past
I've lived without your love and care
Instead I'm reminded of hate and disappointment
Every breath I take, I ask why so unfair
I'm so sick and hurt of feeling sick and hurt
Let go and let me heal, don't stay
Holding on and burning me more is much worse
Than if you'd just let go and walk away
