Such Beautiful Flowers
Crying in her room
(quietly: she wouldn't want to disturb them)
Carving words into her arm
(carefully: she wouldn't want to stain their sheets)
Cursing the world in this brief moment of honesty.
(the smile must be put back on: she wouldn't want to embarrass them)
Perfect grades
(straight A's)
Perfect sports
(captain of the volleyball team)
Perfect daughter.
She grabs the pills
And the knife for good measure
And dies silent and lost and alone
Because no one was ever there for her.
(but they had such beautiful flowers at the funeral)
